David Koon was born in Hong Kong and transplanted to Houston at the age of 5. He grew up in Sugar Land where he attended Clements High School. He then attended The University of Austin for both his undergraduate career and his doctorate in pharmacy. After graduating in 2010, David spent 4 years taking care of his patients at HEB Pharmacy as the pharmacist and manager, and joined Village Family Practice in early 2014 to start a joint initiative between physicians and pharmacists to provide a higher level of care to all their patients.
David is working to integrate pharmacy services into the family practice model. He believes the pharmacist and the doctor have been separated for far too long, and hopes to close the communication and care gap by bringing pharmacists under the same roof. David is certified to provide Medication Therapy Management, with a focus on diabetes and hypertension. Beyond getting his patients to feel better, David spends his time finding ways to lower his patients cost of medications and optimizing their regimens to fit their lifestyle.
